ART HISTORY AT OGLETHORPE

Our Art History program provides students with foundational knowledge of aesthetics and history in preparation for the rigorous study of all mediums of visual art. The courses which comprise the Art History major have been designed as global, interdisciplinary explorations into specific topics, which underscore and invigorate the Core curriculum at Oglethorpe. Complementing other courses and majors, the Art History program is highly collaborative and communications-based. Students are expected to conduct in-depth, object-based research, and present orally as individuals and in groups. The Department of Art & Art History advocate for experiential learning; in addition to connecting art history students with internships, department trips to Manhattan, London, and Paris have been organized previously.
